ONDO success at MONDI South Africa
We are glad to let you know that, following ONDO’s very successful internationalisation trip in South Africa earlier this year, we now have the first ONDO Pro installation in the country fully functional and actively used!
ONDO has been working to enter the market of South Africa for some time now, together with our amazing partners from Paragon IYI and The Irrigation Company. We have held promotion activities at various farmer events and collaborated with our partners to identify the specific automation needs of the local market and meet farmers looking for automation. Smaller ONDO automation units have already been deployed for pilot testing in a number of farms.
And, following a very well-planned internationalisation trip in July and the joint effort of our partners, we launched our first pilot project for an ONDO Pro automation solution!
4 months later, we are glad to announce that the pilot has been a success and we can now confirm the first ONDO Pro automation actively used by the customer to manage the daily automation of the irrigation and precise fertigation processes, in line with very specific EC and pH control requirements. We are excited to be working with Mondi Greenhouse Nurseries in Hilton, SA – part of the huge international company Mondi Group who have entrusted the management of their irrigation and precise fertigation with ONDO!
Mondi nurseries in Hilton is made up of 6 tunnel greenhouses with several sapling types grown in them. The plants have different irrigation and fertigation needs and specific EC & pH values of the irrigation water are required
The team at Mondi nurseries have set up fully automated irrigation and fertigation at different times in the day, going for short but frequent irrigation and fertigation cycles. The greenhouse temperature, humidity and other climate parameters are also monitored via ONDO Measuring box, while the external climatic conditions are monitored and historically recorded via the ONDO Sense weather station.
As with any project, we are actively involved in tuning the ONDO automation to perfectly meet the specific needs of the customer and we are thankful to be receiving full support and feedback from our partners and customers in this ongoing process.

Sustainability and resource efficiency is a key requirement for their irrigation and precise fertigation processes too and we are happy to be able to meet those requirements and work together to increase the precision of those processes even further, while ensuring that all watering and nutritional needs of the plants are met!
